The Senegalese Market Regulation Agency (MRA) and AgFlow SA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their engagement regarding the execution of “the Project.” The two parties intend to develop a strategic partnership to provide local and international commodity information services to agricultural value chain actors in Senegal and the sub-region. The goal is to build the capacity of active traders in Senegal and West Africa.

The partnership between MRA and Agflow aims to:

  • Offer a more transparent and actionable information service to all players in the Senegalese market and, more broadly, to all West African actors through the AgFlow platform
  • Develop a data collection tool for Senegalese agricultural market prices. Indeed, departmental agents travel across Senegal to collect prices on various agricultural commodities (Rice, Corn, Sorgho, Millet). Therefore, the goal is to jointly create a simple and efficient tool to allow for the most optimal monitoring of the evolution of Senegalese agricultural markets

« Market Regulation is key to the development of the local production and confirms the direction towards self-sufficiency in staple crops in the region by 2030 » says Elimane Kane, Head of Corporate Development at AgFlow.

About The Market Regulation Agency

The Market Regulation Agency aims to promote consultation with the various actors (importers, producers, consumers, etc.) of the sectors, the realization of infrastructures for the storage and conservation of cereal and horticultural products, and the management of an efficient information system around the markets of all agricultural products and the supervision of commercial transactions at the level of agricultural sectors with standard contracts. The MRA is linked to the Senegalese Ministry of Commerce and SMEs.
